WILL HE FIND FAITH?
04th Mar 2020
Jesus asks a question, recorded in Luke 18:8, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” He had just told the story of the persistent widow wanting justice, who refused to give up until she received what she asked for.
So often Jesus mentions faith as a requisite to receiving from God. He tells the woman with the issue of blood that her faith in Him has released her from 12 years long torment that no doctor could heal. Mark 5:34, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Why did she ‘touch him’? Had she heard about Jesus and thought, if I touch him I will be healed? Did she think, could this be the Messiah? Desperation drove her to break religious rules, push through the crowd and touch Him. Her faith became the conduit and healing power flowed into her - hallelujah!
How much do you and I exercise faith, pursue it, or seek to understand how faith develops and grows? If it is the key to receiving then we must seek and find. When I received a revelation of faith, my eyes were opened to God’s promises and I began to understand, to trust what God said and to receive.
Faith is not a nebulous airy-fairy thing, it is solid. If God says it and I believe it, it will happen. Timing is up to God, persistent believing is up to me. Many Christian people are not feeding on the Bible and do not know the promises it contains, and so have no ‘word’ to stand on, only shifting sands.
James 1:5-8 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”
Will the Son of Man find faith on the earth? I certainly want more myself in the situations I face on a daily basis. So my prayer is that unbelief and complacency would be exposed, repented of and faith would grow and become a channel of God’s power in my life.
