BE STILL
15th Jul 2026
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.”
We live in a very noisy world, and it can be challenging to step away from the busyness and chatter and find time to be still and in God’s presence.
In Mark 6:31, it says, “Because so many people were coming and going that they did not have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves and get some rest.” Jesus realised the importance of rest and quiet.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”
So are you obeying God’s instruction to find time to be quiet and receive from Him? I am challenged as I write these words; I need to preach this message to myself.
Are we using the gift of speaking in tongues to contribute to this? In 1 Corinthians 14:4, it says, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.” This kind of prayer bypasses our mind and all the conflicting thoughts and ministers to our spirits. Later in the chapter, in verse 14, it says, “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.”
A group of us were talking about sleeplessness a few days ago. We do believe that sleep is a gift from the Lord, and we were seeking His healing in this area. However, how do you use sleeplessness? You can pray in tongues; you can intercede for your family and other needs; you can worship quietly inside if you are sharing a bed with your spouse! It can be a time of peace when you receive strength and wisdom from the Lord. So don’t waste this time worrying and being anxious.
I love Jude verse 20, which says, “But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith, and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”
Today’s message to each of us is, “Be still and know that I am God.”
