WELL FED OR UNDERNOURISHED?
01st May 2013
How much time will you spend eating food today? Will you eat breakfast, lunch and supper? Are you seeking to have a balanced diet? Do you want to be healthy?
How much time will you spend reading your Bible - God’s Word? Will it be equal to even one meal? Are you concerned about living a healthy spiritual life?
I believe that regular reading of God’s Word is a vital ingredient to living a strong, healthy and blessed life. In our new book, “Faith Food for Every Day” there is not only a word of encouragement for every day, but we have also included Bible reading plans to enable you to read through the Word systematically in One or Two years.
Paul writes, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16) To have the word “dwell in you richly” indicates a commitment and devotion to reading and meditating on the Word.
The Psalmist says the one who lives a blessed life, “delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night.” (Psalm 1:2)
As I have been thinking about the importance of the Word, many other scriptures have come to mind. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates to dividing soul and spirit...”
Psalm 119.11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” A good instruction to those who want to live right and overcome temptation. Verse 105 of the same Psalm says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” To enable you to gain clear insight and direction for daily life.
And would you be able to align yourself alongside Job, when he said, “I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily food”? (Job 23:12)
