THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN

I love reading the book of Daniel, it’s so full of faith and dramatic events. It shines out like a beacon among so much defeat and misery surrounding the exile to Babylon.
Daniel and his three friends were taken captive to Babylon and they willingly submitted to the instructions that God had given to His people as they were captured and led into this foreign land. Many had been rebelling regarding the captivity, but Daniel had heard what had been said, “Settle down in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.” (2 Kings 25:24)
Daniel and his three friends are selected to enter the king’s service, but they are faced with eating the food that had been offered to idols and wanted to remain pure. They request a much simpler diet and put their faith into action. It works that are healthier than the other recruits! They submit to the regime, learn the language, study the culture and rise to be the best of all the trainees.
Then comes the challenge, Nebuchadnezzar has had a dream that he will not reveal to the wise men who were the chosen advisors of the King. They are all threatened with death, and Daniel hears about it, and together with his friends they pray. God is faithful and shows Daniel the dream and its interpretation.
As Daniel reveals the dream to Nebuchadnezzar he is careful to point to God as the source of his revelation. He states, “No wise man can explain the mystery, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.” (Daniel 2:28)
During these past couple of years we have had many restrictions and rules put upon us. We have chosen to obey the rules and fall in line with the recommendations, we are fully jabbed for both Covid and Flu, however we live in peace, not because we have ticked all the boxes, but because “There is a God in Heaven.”
As we pray into various situations we seek to hear the voice from heaven. At the beginning of the pandemic we received the word about the blood being on the lintel and the side posts as the destroying angel swept over Egypt. The destroying angel will not enter our house or our bodies.
We are praying for someone who has a life threatening situation and have been directed to 1 Samuel 2:8, “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes….”
We are told in scripture to obey the authorities, which we do, but in every situation as we pray, we declare, “There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.”
