THANKSGIVING
10th Dec 2025
Some years ago, we were in contact with a lobster fisherman named Yolo. He had experienced a wonderful conversion, and God used the Kingdom Faith Teaching Course to show him how much he needed Jesus. Faith was born in his heart, and he also saw God save and heal his wife from multiple illnesses.
He was radically transformed and shared with everyone he met about his new life in Jesus. Charles had collaborated with Colin Urquhart on producing this Course and became a point of contact if Yolo needed answers to his many questions.
We were holidaying in Scotland and decided to find Yolo. He was living and fishing on the Isle of Harris, in a remote spot, and eventually we found his caravan and boat where he entertained us with cocoa and lobster. He was warm and welcoming and wanted to know what God was doing in our lives.
He was witnessing miracles and many wonderful things, and by comparison, our lives seemed very mundane. He was so full of gratitude, and I remember feeling ashamed because I had so little to report. I had to really think of things to tell him, and the visit encouraged me to be more actively thankful. I once kept a ‘thanksgiving diary’, which helped focus my mind; I would challenge myself to recall 10 things I was thankful for each day!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 commands us to, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for it is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It is a good habit to develop and a powerful tool to combat the enemy’s negativity.
I have been looking back over my personal journal written during 2025 and have so much to thank God for. I am alive and well, and we have everything we need to live. His hand has provided - food, a home, friends, family who are walking with Jesus, wider relationships where we hear reports of God at work all over the world.
So much to be thankful for, God has promised never to leave us or forsake us. He is in us, with us as our counsellor, companion and remains totally committed to us in all circumstances of life.
Thank Him for His love and grace today!
