SPEAK!

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” - Romans 10:17
When the Spirit of God takes His Word and makes it alive, we call it revelation. Something we have never seen becomes visible - as if a light has been switched on. Faith has been ignited, the Word of God becomes an instruction - not just words on a page.
When our daughter was at primary school she got warts on her knee. I treated them with all sorts of potions and ointments given by the doctor; nothing worked, instead they multiplied and were causing a lot of distress.
As I was reading the Bible, it could have been Matthew 21:18-21 or Mark 11:12-26, which have the account of how Jesus spoke to the fig tree and said, “you will never bear fruit again” - one passage says it happened immediately, the other on the next day. The effect of Jesus’ words caused the tree to die. Jesus used this example to demonstrate the power of words spoken with authority, telling the disciples to “Speak to the mountain and expect it to move.”
Revelation and understanding came as I was reading the scripture and I told my daughter we would speak to the warts and tell them, in the Name of Jesus, to wither and die from the roots and be removed. We did this. One week later the change was clear to see, they had flattened and were soon gone, never to appear again.
Faith rose in my heart and I began to understand the power of words, spoken with authority, release the activity of God’s Spirit and we see miracles.
In 2 Kings chapters 1 & 2 we see the same principle in action. Elisha has seen Elijah parting the waters of the Jordan, hitting it with his cloak. (2 Kings 2:8) As he is returning, having seen Elijah taken to heaven, he reaches the Jordan, having already prayed that he will receive a double portion of Elijah’s anointing, he takes the cloak, strikes the water, it parts and he crosses over.
Many today are praying into situations of great need, asking God to act. Is He wanting us to believe and speak to mountains, releasing God’s power into specific situations.
Moses was crying out for God to act in Exodus 14:15-16, when God said, “You tell the Israelites to move on, you raise your staff and stretch out your hand to divide the sea.”
Pray for revelation as you read God’s word and ask for faith to believe and act on what it says.
