RESOURCES

I love reading John 4 and the encounter Jesus had at the well in Samaria. The woman who has had five husbands, and is probably the most disreputable character in Sychar, meets Jesus with all her natural needs and comes away with supernatural answers.
We all have needs, and know our natural resources are limited, but the good news is that Jesus has supernatural resources for every believer. The woman came to the well because she needed water every day in order to remain alive. She filled her water jar, but then was introduced to “living water” which was going to meet more than her physical needs.
This woman then shared her testimony with the Samaritan townsfolk, who received the message and testified, “We no longer believe just because of what you have said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know this man really is the Saviour of the world.” (v42)
The disciples meanwhile are buying provisions, and believe that Jesus must be getting hungry, however when offered food, He says, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” (v32)
Later in John 7:38 Jesus declares, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living waters will flow from him.”
I remember a time when we had just arrived home after a long air journey, jet lag, fatigue and weariness was what we should expect. We were plunged straight into a ministry weekend. (Poor planning probably?) But God is faithful, and as we reached out for His supernatural resources, we were amazed to feel refreshed and given all the energy we needed.
As believers we are not limited to our natural ability and resources. We all know what it is to be tired, stressed and drained. But we have access to supernatural resources.
John 4:13 says, “Whoever drinks the water that I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:32 says, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
John 7:38 says, “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living waters will flow from him.”
Nehemiah 8:10 says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Don’t be limited to natural strength when supernatural resources are available to you!
