PROTECTION & PEACE
31st May 2017
Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the recent tragedies in Manchester and in other places around the world where terror is so prevalent. On the one hand it is hard to get emotionally involved, yet at the same time we cannot allow fear to find a lodging place within.
We are all familiar with Psalm 91, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty....You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day..... If you make the Most High your dwelling - even the Lord who is my refuge - then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.”
We need to be active in prayer and in covering those we love and for whom we have responsibility. I was praying with a group of people who have leadership responsibility for our Church, when one of the folk shared a picture. He saw a large tarpaulin being raised over the people in the Church, with strong poles at each corner, but with the need for several folk to be holding on to the poles as the covering was secured.
In Philippians 4:6 we are instructed, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God......”
We need to be vigilant as we go about our daily lives. Each day Joyce and I pray for our large family and friends who are spread around the world, we bring real and tangible situations into His presence. We have those who have health issues, those taking exams, others travelling, and children and grandchildren involved in the adventures of life. As we place each person before our loving and caring Father, we seek wisdom and supernatural resources as well as protection and peace.
God “commands his angels to guard you in all your ways.....so that you do not strike your foot against a stone.” Paul told Timothy, “You have not been given a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of power, love and a sound mind.”
