PEACE UNDER PRESSURE
11th Mar 2026
With all that we are hearing and seeing on the news, with wars and conflicts all around, it is not easy to remain in a place of peace. However, peace is the birthright of every believer.
Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” At this time of turmoil and trouble, we need to know how to protect ourselves from letting fear dominate our thoughts.
Peace is a gift from Jesus, and it does not depend on circumstances or what is going on around you. There are so many things that can rob us of peace. It was the same for the disciples, who were about to see Jesus go to the cross and be crucified. Included in the final words that Jesus spoke to his disciples, He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (John 14:27)
In the past few days, I have found myself singing this song:
“We’ll sing a new song of glorious triumph,
For we see the government of God in our lives.
Yes, He is crowned God of the whole world, crowned,
King of the ages, crowned,
Ruling the nations now.”
And as I have been reading in the Psalms, the power and greatness of God is constantly being declared - Psalm 68:34 & 35 says, “Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives strength to his people.”
John 20:19 says, “On the evening of the first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.”
The disciples were traumatised, hiding away and expecting the worst, when Jesus stepped into the room and said four simple words, “Peace be with you.” Jesus is still the same, yesterday, today, and forever, and He can step into your situation and speak those same words over you, bringing peace that drives out the fear and anxiety dominating your thoughts.
