A LIFESTYLE OF WORSHIP
08th Feb 2023
Psalm 34:9 in The Message says, “Worship God if you want the best; worship opens the doors to all his goodness.” We can think of worship as only being in Church and singing songs, which is limited and untrue.
Worship is where the focus of our lives is directed. Exodus 23:25 also gives us an insight into the importance of worship. It says, “Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be upon your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in the land.” This was included in God’s directive to His people as they lived in the desert.
I was impacted by the second phrase in the verse from the Psalms, “worship opens the door to all his goodness.” When worship is a lifestyle it will be at the centre of our lives at all times. When we wake up we will turn our hearts to God and sing our “Song in the Morning” as I have written about on many occasions.
We will begin the day with thanksgiving and input our lives with His Word as we read our Bibles, in whatever way we have chosen. We will pray into the situations of life that are our concern, and listen to God for His directions for our day ahead. We will think about others and maybe make contact by sending a message by email, or perhaps a phone call.
When our focus is on God and we are seeking to please Him, our thoughts will be away from ourselves and centred on others. This is a great antidote to self pity and allowing the burdens of life to weigh us down.
Music does play a vital role in our life of worship. Psalm 96 says, “Sing unto the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim his salvation day after day.”
So when I read, “Worship God if you want the best” in my daily reading, it stirred me to look again at my own life and to make sure that I live “a lifestyle of worship.”
