FAITH FATIGUE
27th Apr 2022
When we are in a long faith battle with disease and life challenges it is easy to become weary and even think of giving up. We personally have many situations that we are praying into at this time, and the enemy wants to tell us that we are not going to see the victory.
It was no different in the early church when the new believers were facing great challenges on every side. Hebrews 6:12 puts it very clearly, “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”
So what do we do when struggling with ‘faith fatigue’? We look at those who have battled through in the past and learn from them. Abraham is the great example of one who had to wait 25 years to see God’s promise fulfilled. Romans 4:18 says, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him.” Even though he had a blip in the middle of the battle, when he had Ishmael by Sarah’s maid, he hung in there and saw God’s answer in Isaac.
Later on in verse 20 it says, “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised.”
So, we don’t get lazy, we keep on declaring God’s faithfulness and we keep listening for words and promises that strengthen our faith. We keep our faith active, we sing songs of victory, we stay in a place of peace, we keep our joy levels high.
Job who certainly had his faith battles says in Job 13:15, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him.” He refused to blame God or abandon his place a faith and God came through and gave him a double blessing.
I love the verse in Hebrews 11:13 which says, “All these people were still living by faith when they died.” That is how I want to live, because I know the faithfulness of God.
Don’t let weariness and fatigue undermine your place of faith - keep going!
