WORDS AND WISDOM
14th Oct 2015
In Luke 21:15 Jesus tells his disciples that in the times that are coming, “I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.”
I read those words in the morning, little realising that I would experience them in a practical way during the day. Let me explain! I had parked my car awkwardly in a very overcrowded hotel car park. As I exited it, I checked carefully to make sure the other cars had room to manoeuvre. Five hours later I returned to find a notice on my screen asking me to go to the reception of the main building where I had parked. I assumed I would be reprimanded for having parked in the wrong part of the large conference centre where I had spent the day. I thought, I’ll let Charles ring them when we both get home as he had been responsible for the day conference we had attended.
Not long after we returned home, a man stood on the doorstep and accused me of causing damage to the rear of his car. Charles listened to him without calling me, and later when I’d protested my innocence we felt we should return to the complex and sort it out. I was extremely upset by the accusation, I had parked awkwardly but there had been no contact with the other car.
My ‘accuser’ had seen a mark on my car, and assumed I had caused the damage to his car. Now, “words and wisdom” promised and needed. Charles realised the only way to prove my innocence was to park to two cars alongside each other and measure the height of the damage on both cars. We knew our damage to have been there for some time. The measuring proved that I was not responsible! All was soon resolved in a very reasonable manner - it could have been so different. Words and wisdom were given and the accusation was retracted.
God is at work in our everyday life, expect it today!
