BEING REFRESHED

Psalm 68:9 says, “You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.” Being weary is the opposite of being refreshed, and the way we receive refreshing comes in various ways. We may think overcoming weariness requires more downtime or more hours in bed!
Psalm 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.” Time spent reading the Bible will bring refreshment.
Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Weariness can make us self-centred, but this verse from Proverbs tells us that when we stop focusing on our own needs and give to others, we will benefit ourselves.
In 2 Corinthians 7:5-6, Paul says, “For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within. But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus.” Titus arrives in time to encourage the believers, and later in the chapter it says, “In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.”
The principle Jesus speaks is, “Give, and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38) So, are you experiencing weariness at this time? Think of someone you can bless, make a phone call, go and visit a friend.
Don’t neglect having fellowship with other believers; we need each other. Paul was having a difficult time in Judea and asked for prayer and the opportunity to meet with the believers in Rome, “So that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed.” (Romans 15:32)
God always wants to meet our needs. Jeremiah 31:25 says, “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”
