WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING?
11th Jan 2023
When Paul was writing to the believers in Thessaloniki he was inspired by what he described as, “your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love and your endurance inspired by hope.” (1 Thessalonians 1:3)
There was a motivation that kept these believers going forward in their faith and seeking to make an impact on those among whom they were living. When our lives are under pressure we need to have a vision and picture of what lies ahead, not simply our own hopes and dreams but God’s purpose and plan for our lives.
God’s people had been in captivity for 70 years and the future looked bleak, but when God spoke to Jeremiah what He saw was completely different, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
As I was meditating on the hope that God places in our hearts, a song came into my mind and I began to sing - I love you, Lord for Your mercy never fails me. All my days, I’ve been held in your hands, from the moment I wake up until I lay my head, oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
The chorus goes: All my life You have been faithful, all my life you have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
When we look around we can be discouraged by so many problems and difficulties, but when we fix our eyes on Jesus and listen to His voice speaking to us, we hear words of hope and encouragement.
The words of the chorus keep ringing in my ears and singing in my heart.
All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so, so good.
With every breath that I am able,
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Sing it - it will keep you going today and every day of 2023!
