WALKING THROUGH WALLS
01st Jul 2020
Recently, I was spending time with the Lord, and was particularly burdened and interceding for people who once walked with the Lord and now seem to be caught up in many other things - a bit like Martha “distracted”! I was also crying out for my unsaved friends and relatives who I love and long for them to find peace, know the love of God, His salvation, His help and wisdom on a daily basis. At times I can be overwhelmed by the need and my own limitations and inadequacies.
Into my heart the Lord spoke, making a statement that changed everything. His words were, “I can walk through walls!” Of course you can was my response, and immediately I saw these situations with a totally new understanding and perspective, that released hope.
After the crucifixion the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders. Imagine the emotions in that room. It’s not hard to feel the sadness, disappointment and ‘what if’s’, the ‘what now’s’ and maybe spoken or unspoken criticism of each other’s behaviour. Jesus came and stood among them offering peace. He walked through physical walls, nothing could prevent Him coming to comfort and help.
A week later they are again gathered, this time Thomas is with them behind their locked doors. Thomas, full of unbelief had doubted the report of the previous week and said he would only believe if he could touch and see the nails and spear wounds. Unbelief and locked doors were unable to keep Jesus out of the room, and again His gift of peace was offered. You can read to full story in John 19:19-31
Now take all those situations that burden you, and ask Jesus to walk through whatever walls and barriers have been erected and to reveal Himself, to speak His words, His victory over death, to confront ignorance and unbelief and to bring peace, salvation and restoration …… and to cause those you are praying for to cry out, as Thomas did, "My Lord and My God."
