TRUTH AND LIES
17th Sep 2025
In John 10:10, Jesus contrasts the focus of His ministry with that of our enemy, the devil. Jesus declares Himself as the life-giver and the devil as a thief, who comes “to steal, kill, and destroy.” In John 8:44, He speaks of the devil as “a liar, and the father of lies in whom is no truth.”
Some time ago, I was praying about a broken relationship, and the Holy Spirit began to show me that the root of this breakdown was due to a lying spirit seeking to kill, steal, and destroy. I could see this was happening and asked how to pray. I was reminded that Jesus gave His disciples the ability to bind and loose, and to take authority in His name, to rebuke the devil and see him flee and retreat. I understood, and found myself praying, binding the lying spirit and commanding in Jesus' Name for truth to be heard instead of lies.
I also asked for personal forgiveness; I knew these scriptures, but I had failed to do what they instructed me. Whilst considering this, I saw how easily we forget the lessons the Holy Spirit has taught us, and how much we need to be reminded of truths we have been taught, but are failing to apply.
Some time ago, I had a bad burn on my arm which was not healing. I was having a conversation at the time with Colin Urquhart, who noticed the problem. I told him it was a burn that would not heal. His response was another question, “Have you spoken to it and told it to heal in the Name of Jesus?” I hadn’t, but feeling rather foolish and exposed, I did it immediately, and it started to heal; in a very short time, it was gone. I needed to be reminded of this incident and put the instructions into practice again.
Very recently, Charles had a similar sore on his face that wasn’t healing until he began to address it, using the Name of Jesus. It has healed and completely disappeared.
My prayer is that I will remember lessons learned in the past, and I will live using them today, and see the power of the Name of Jesus at work in every situation
