VALUABLE
30th Jul 2025
A few days ago, in our daily devotional, Faith Food for Every Day, the 26th July piece is based on Graham Kendrick’s song, “How much do you think you are worth?” It is an amazing song. Here is a link to the song.
It is about your value. How do you value yourself? How do you value others? How does Jesus value you? I found it very thought-provoking and stimulating. Here is part of the song:
“If you heard that your life had been valued
That a price had been paid on the nail
Would you ask what was traded,
How much and who paid it
Who was it and what was His name?
If you heard that His name was called Jesus
Would you say that the price is too dear?”
I suggest you look up the words on the internet and read the whole song.
Then I was sitting in our garden, which overlooks fields, trees and a farm. There are lots of birds around us, and the verse came to mind. “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” (Luke 12:7)
We are living at a time when many people are struggling with their self-image, they are wondering whether they are acceptable, and many are battling with discouragement and depression.
I was struck by the fact that God sees me as valuable. I look at the birds flying around our home, and it says in the Bible, “God knows when one of those birds falls out of the sky.” He even numbers the hairs on my head!
Our lack of self-worth usually stems from feeling that nobody loves us and nobody cares about life’s struggles. That is a lie, because your loving heavenly Father values you and is aware of everything you’re going through.
The final paragraph of the piece in Faith Food says, "God values you as priceless. Jesus paid the price for you….because you are worth it!"
Many of you already have Faith Food, but for anyone living in the UK, you can buy it for £10, see below.
