DON'T WASTE SUCH A GIFT
16th Apr 2014
There is no answer to the human condition other than the death and resurrection of Jesus. Without this there is no hope.
Christians believe that Jesus was the substitute for mankind and experienced, on our behalf, all that was necessary to restore mankind back into relationship with God, as He originally intended it to be. We believe that Jesus lived a fully human life, and because He experienced all pain, scorn, injustice, violence, mocking and betrayal - we can exchange everything we are for a brand new life. A new beginning of living in relationship with God, who is compassionate, merciful, forgiving, patient and kind, who will help us in every situation of life and moment by moment bathe us with His love.
He loves me, I cannot say why,
On Calvary’s tree. He suffered for me,
He loves my, I cannot say why.
I have done nothing to deserve such love but I receive it as an amazing free gift and live in the reality of His amazing love and grace. Don’t waste or undervalue such a gift.
- He took all your sins and was punished, so you may never have to face judgement.
- He took all your shame, was mocked, spat on, dehumanised by beating and whipping, so you can go free.
- He experienced rejection, betrayal, misunderstanding and injustice, mental and emotional suffering, so you can be comforted and released.
- His body was literally shredded by scourging, so that you can experience the reality of being healed.
- He submitted to death, so that you will never experience it. You will fall asleep, yes, but wake in the presence of Jesus.
1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; for by his wounds you have been healed.”
Don’t waste this amazing, comprehensive, substitutionary death on the Cross. It deals with so much more than sin - it offers the possibility of resurrection and an exciting new life.
