THANKSGIVING
09th Apr 2025
Thanksgiving is so important in the life of every believer. Take a check of your thanksgiving levels. Thanksgiving opens to door to God’s blessing and peace, whereas negativity and complaining robs of strength and opens the door to fear.
We are told in Psalm 100 to, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever.”
We are feeling very thankful to God after a weekend of family rejoicing and celebration. The occasion was the dedication of Ophelia, our great granddaughter, at the church in Manchester where her parents Reuben & Maha attend, and that so many of our children and grandchildren were able to be there to be part of the celebration.
One morning last week we had a face time call with one of our grandsons as he and his fiancé announced their engagement. We are thrilled as we see them embark on a life together seeking God’s plan for their future. We also are thanking God that He has chosen them for each other in such a wonderful way.
Thanksgiving is such a powerful weapon against fear and discouragement. There are times when life is challenging and difficult and we are tempted to be bowed down by the problems and set backs that we are facing. It is at these time when we need to choose thanksgiving as a weapon against the onslaught of the enemy.
In Psalm 50:23 it says, “He who sacrifices thank offerings honours me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.” So when you might be tempted to despair and cannot understand why life is so difficult, it is at these times when you need to turn your heart and mind to giving thanks.
Behind these events of rejoicing and praise there has been a great deal of prayer and exercising faith in times of trial and difficulty. I would encourage you to increase your thanksgiving levels whatever is going on around you, because God is faithful and He will bring you through to joy and victory.
