SUPERNATURAL LIVING
08th Jan 2025
I found myself singing an old chorus this morning, I knew the tune but the words may not be accurate -
“I want to live for Jesus every day
I want to live for Jesus come what may
In my joys and in my sorrows
All my days and bright tomorrow’s
I want to live for Jesus every day”
On Sunday in church we were challenged to define what season we are living in - for some it might be a time to plant, for others a time to reap. Some are grieving, some are rejoicing etc. What season am I in? Also, who am I praying for? Be specific, who has God laid on your heart and needs you to stand in prayer for them?
Charles and I read “Faith Food” on a daily basis. January 6th was a piece written by Charles reminding us of Who lives in us. He pointed to the resurrected Jesus, alive and living in us by His Spirit, and also the supernatural resources available to us as children of God.
It is so easy to be passive, and today I was challenged to re-think and consider what God, our loving Heavenly Father has given us and how He expects us to live in the coming year. Jesus wants an intimate relationship with you, and He wants you to communicate with Him on a moment by moment basis. He is alive, living in you, you can hear His voice and be aware of His presence, what a privilege. Don’t waste it or ignore this costly gift.
Jesus through His Holy Spirit wants to encourage you. He wants to help and guide you, share His wisdom concerning situations that trouble you. I often ask Him questions like, “What would you do about this problem?” “How do you want me to approach this situation?”
Jesus demonstrated this lifestyle and testifies that He did nothing unless He heard His Father’s voice telling Him what to do and when to do it! The gospel record and the Acts of the Apostles show how Jesus and the early disciples learned to listen and obey and expect God to act through them, as He had with Jesus.
Your circumstances are unique, but if you are a child of God with His resurrected Son alive in you, you will live differently. Romans 8:14 says, “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
Sometimes I find Christians very passive and I want to shout, “Wake up” use your God given resources, believe the promises, tell your personal miracles, so that others will be encouraged. Hebrews 10:23-24 in The Message says, “So let’s do it - full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Lets keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. Let’s se how inventive we can be in encouraging…”
