SPEAK WITH AUTHORITY
09th Jul 2025
I’m so grateful for the years spent living in community, under the ministry of Colin Urquhart. Colin taught us to believe and live following the Word of God, acting on what God said.
One day, I was rubbing a sore on my arm, and Colin noticed this and asked me what was wrong. I replied that I had a sore from a burn, which was failing to heal. “Have you told it to heal in the Name of Jesus.” was Colin’s response. I hadn’t! Very quickly I spoke to this wound and commanded it to heal in Jesus’ Name. I continued to use the authority given by Jesus, it started to heal, and was quickly restored.
So many times Colin used incidents in every day life to teach faith and obedience to God’s word. In Luke 18:8 the question is asked, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” I find many Christians asking God for resources to cope, but failing to use the Authority of Jesus to speak to mountains of various kinds and see them move!
Jesus won a victory over satan and all his activity as He shed His blood on Calvary. Don’t waste this sacrifice. You are given the right as a child of God to be an overcomer, to live in victory. You have weapons to use that are mighty and can pull down strongholds set up by satan our enemy. 2 Corinthians 10:4 speaks of “having divine power to demolish strongholds… and take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.”
The Roman centurion, written about in Matthew 8:5-13 understood the power of authority. When he spoke ‘go’ or ‘come’ he was using the power of the Roman Empire and expected that authority to be complied with. Jesus has far greater authority. In 1 Peter 3:22 it says, “Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand - with angels and powers in submission to him.”
And we have been given the authority to use His Name as a weapon against His enemies. See how many times Jesus spoke to situations, objects, storms. Ask Him to teach you to do the same.
Believe we have the victory in Jesus,
Believe we have the victory in Him
O Lord, send us out in your Name we pray
And give us the victory today.
