"SONSHINE"
08th May 2013
What a difference it makes when the sun shines! It lifts our spirits, everything seems possible, new found energy is released, and everyone you bump into looks a lot happier.
I’m writing as someone who lives in the Northern Hemisphere, where we have had five months of cold, grey, wet weather, and wondered if we would ever see the sun again!
Have you ever noticed in Genesis chapter 1, how God commanded light to shine before He created the sun and the moon? I call this sonshine, glory, light that emanates from a person, namely Jesus, who is the “light of the world”, the One who was with the Father as He created the material world.
This light corresponds with blessing and approval, Aaron spoke out a blessing over the Israelites saying, “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
Enjoy the sunshine, but seek out and enjoy the “sonshine”, remember whoever you are, and however you judge yourself, God longs to bless you, be gracious to you and shine the light of His countenance upon and give you peace.
Paul writes, “For God has declared, “Light is to shine where before there was darkness,” and so He has caused His light to shine in our hearts. He has given us the light that comes from knowing God’s glory in our experience, as revealed through the person of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6 The Truth)
Let the “sonshine” upon you today.
