SHOUTING YOUR CORNER
20th Sep 2017
I have recently been reading Hebrews and have seen afresh the contrast between the old covenant priests and Jesus our perfect and all sufficient Great High Priest. Hebrews 7:25 says, “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Jesus has entered heaven with His own blood and not only saved and redeemed us, but is always in the presence of God “shouting our corner”. Life has so many twists and turns that we can feel isolated and vulnerable. When things go wrong we blame ourselves and feel God is displeased with us and that we have lost touch with our Father.
The reason for a lot of our trouble is that the devil is “the accuser of the brethren” and we allow him to speak lies into our minds and hearts and rob us of peace and victory. As I read that verse from Hebrews, I could imagine the scene in heaven with Jesus standing before His Father speaking up for me and rebuking the lies of the devil.
In 1 John 2:1 & 2 we have a similar message, “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins...” Here again Jesus is in the presence of His Father declaring that our sins have been forgiven and blotted out.
My own earthly father was always on my side when I was young, I believe his acceptance of some of my poor results at school didn’t help me to be a better student! But I always knew he was for me and not against me.
I pray that you will get a fresh revelation of Jesus who does not want you living under the guilt of sin or dominated by the lying accusation of the devil.
Remember every day - Jesus is shouting your corner!
