RUN TO GOD
23rd Oct 2013
James 1:12 in the Message says, “Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.”
Testing and trials leading to great joy? A testing challenge rewarded by life and more life? You may think James is living on another planet. We avoid difficult situations like the plague, however, it is at the point of helplessness and frustration that God is there waiting to give Himself into the mix.
Once we allow God to speak, to console, to draw near - He gives wisdom, comfort, healing and perspective. He will give strategies to enable change, and most of all He will remind you of His great love, care and understanding.
Run to God when things are tough - the devil’s strategy is always to seek to break our trust and connection with Father God. To make us think He won’t want us. Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask of God who gives generously to all without finding fault.” The Message says it like this, “If you don’t know what you are doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get His help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it.”
Our gracious Father never forces His presence and resources upon us, rather He waits until we acknowledge our need of Him - then He acts. Drawing near brings peace and joy, it brings life and more life. So the trials, which cause us to run to God, lead to growth in our relationship with Him, bring us into His presence, and His presence releases joy.
Run to him today - you can’t lose!
