RESURRECTION LIFE
05th Apr 2023
While reading Romans 6 in The Message I was challenged to ask myself, “Am I living resurrection life today?” That chapter is full of dynamic statements like verse 8, “If we get included in Christ’s sin conquering death, we also get included in his life saving resurrection.”
As we approach Easter Sunday for another year, are we only thinking of celebrating the victory of Jesus on the Cross and the wonderful Day of Resurrection, or are we rejoicing in the powerful life that we have in Jesus?
Verse 10 says, “When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us.” and verse 13 continues, “Remember you’ve been raised from the dead! - into God’s way of doing things.”
Sin has been defeated and we have been released from the power of sin, so as Paul says in Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, his powerful, victorious life comes inside of us. His indwelling presence fills us with peace and joy. He gives us the assurance that nothing is impossible with Him. We see unlimited possibilities as we look at the need around us. Like Peter and John we can say, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
In a world full of sadness we know that, “He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows." We are surrounded by people full of fear, when the scripture says, “You have not been given a spirit of fear but, power, love and a sound mind.” When Jesus found the disciples gripped by fear and forboding He said, “Peace be unto you.”
Over the past few days I have found myself singing the wonderful song, written by Melanie Gloeckler entitled“Resurrection Power.” (Click this link to listen)
“Hallelujah! I am free, sin and death have no hold on me.
We’ve got resurrection power flowing on the inside.”
Are you merely rejoicing in the resurrection of Jesus, or are you living with resurrection power?
