WE HAVE THE RESOURCES OF HEAVEN
19th Nov 2025
Life in today’s world is a real challenge on every level, but we need to know confidently that whatever is happening, we have the resources of heaven.
When Paul was writing to the Ephesians in chapter 2:6 he says, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” This means that when we are tempted to view all our issues from ground level, we can let fear and despair dominate. When we view them from the heavenly realms, we see that God can turn every challenge into a victory.
The first step we need to take in every situation is to pray. Jesus recognised that the disciples could view everything from a human standpoint and be gripped by fear. In John 16:24 it says, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
So often, when a crisis arises, we try to think of ways to tackle it or imagine the worst-case scenario, when going immediately to prayer will shift the focus and open the way for God’s answer to emerge.
In John 10:10, Jesus tells his disciples about the enemy's strategy when He says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” The enemy is always trying to drag you down when Jesus wants to lift you up.
Paul opens up his letter to the Ephesians with these words, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
So are we living with the limitation of human wisdom, or are we living with heaven’s resources?
