Do you know that God himself chose you in order that you may know him personally? Do you know that He has specific purposes for you, and you are not on your own? Do you know that you were bought with a price and called to love and please the Lord Jesus?
In a very troubled and busy world it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture and see yourself as unimportant and inadequate. Paul, as he writes to the small church in Thessaloniki, reminds them of these things. He prays that they will “receive God’s grace constantly, have all they need, and become everything they are meant to be.” (2 Thessalonians 1:2)
He prays that God will make them fit for what He has called them to be, that God himself will empower them with His own energy, causing their good ideas and acts of faith to be effective and bring honour to the Name of Jesus.
I love the way Paul prays for this group of young believers. These verses are from The Message.
2 Thessalonians 2:16 - “May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.”
2 Thessalonians 3:5 - “May the Master take your hand and lead you along the path of God’s love and Christ’s endurance.”
2 Thessalonians 3:16 - “May the Master of Peace, give you peace at all times and in every way.”
Today, give thanks you are chosen to know Him, you have purpose for living; you have been forgiven; you can live life knowing you are never alone. You have the Holy Spirit to help you with whatever life throws at you, and the certainty that Jesus is coming back and will be seen as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
So remember these truths and be thankful.
