THE POWER OF THE BLOOD

Guilt, shame, hopelessness and despair dominated a young woman’s life. Her situation was very difficult, and finding herself pregnant yet again, she was advised to abort and did so. Now plagued with negative feelings and self hatred, she didn’t want to live.
Many people reached out to her, telling her about Jesus’ power to forgive and heal, but she couldn’t forgive herself. One day talking to another counsellor/minister she was confronted with this challenge, “Did she think she was above the efficacy of the blood of Jesus?” The blood could cleanse the vilest, but not her! Revelation dawned and she saw that, “Sinners plunged beneath that flood, lose all their guilty stains!” She believed, and started to live again.
I Peter 1:18-19 states, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ.” Whenever God is at work in revival situations, as many people are saved and restored, you will find people praising and singing about the blood of Jesus.
For example:
“It’s your blood that cleanses me,
It’s you blood that gives me life,
It’s your blood that took my place
in redeeming sacrifice and washes me
whiter than the snow than the snow.”
Hebrews 10: 12 states, “But this Man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” Coming to Him is the answer for sin, shame, self hatred, entrapment, guilt and torment. There is an exchange that is totally beyond intellectual understanding. It’s supernatural! Forgiveness, love, peace and thanksgiving replace the negative and allow healing and wholeness to flow.
John Newton knew this and penned the hymn, “Amazing Grace”. A brutal slave trader who abused, raped and killed - knew what the cleansing of the blood of Jesus alone could give. Others have sung, “My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose went forth and followed Thee.”
Freedom will not come from understanding yourself, or you problem, but from honouring and receiving God’s remedy - the wonder working Power of the Blood.
