LIFE TO THE FULL
18th Mar 2026
God desires for us to live in a place of peace and rest, listening to His voice, referring our decisions to Him, and allowing His Spirit to guide and resource us.
This morning, I was reading Proverbs chapter three and noticed these principles recorded, along with the promises offered to those who seek to live in this way. I was reading this chapter in The Message and found it exceptionally clear.
It starts, “Good friend, don’t forget all I’ve taught you; take to heart my commands. They’ll help you live a long, long time, a long life lived full and well. Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty…..Earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people.” (verses 1-4)
It continues, “Don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!” (verses 5-8)
It goes on to show the worth of “Lady Wisdom and Madame Insight” (verse 13), “both invaluable and freely available, and they’ll keep your soul alive and well and keep you fit and attractive. You’ll be safe and sound because God will be there with you.” (verse 21-24)
I see this as a description of an abundant life lived fully from a place of peace and security, and able to be observed by others. I seek to live by these principles, but am aware of the limitations of independence. Also, God’s loving correction and encouragement help me to check whether I’m obeying His instructions. He constantly calls me back to reliance on Him and to a life governed by peace and joy.
Take time to read Proverbs 3 in The Message and be thankful that a life of peace, joy, wisdom and insight is available as we listen to God’s Holy Spirit and live with His resources. We can live fear-free, trusting in God’s love, care and protection to keep us on the right path so that we can live life to the full.
