POUR OUT YOUR HEART
20th Jun 2018
Psalm 62:8 says, “Trust him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge (a safe place to be).”
David personally knew the relief of letting his innermost feelings and concerns pour out before God, finding great reassurance, a transfer of weight, recovery, and a renewed sense of being loved and cared for by a greater One than himself; and peace as he sees God move on his behalf.
2 Samuel 22 is a song that David composed after God rescued his from Saul and all his enemies. Verse 7 in The Message says, “In a hostile world, I called out to God, to my God I cried out….my cry brought me right into his presence - a private audience.”
Just as a mother can distinguish the heart cry of a baby and know when she needs to act, God is aware of the intensity of our cry. Hannah’s cry reached him, also that of the blind beggar Bartimaeus, desperate to see and change his lifestyle. Both were answered.
God heard David’s cry and rescued him, verse 17, “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.” Verse 20, “He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” The Message says, “I stood there “saved” - surprised to be loved!”
Notice that David was totally honest before God. The Message says in verse 21, “I placed all the pieces before him.” Verse 25, “I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.” When we become totally honest, transparent and desperate for God to act on our behalf - He does and always will. David declares:
God set things right.
God rescued me.
God saved me from battles.
God shut people up who talked back.
God rescued me from enemy anger
It is time to get alone with God who is merciful, compassionate, kind and loving, and pour out everything that is troubling you and let Him tell you that He will help you, act on your behalf, give you wisdom and instruction. Why wait?
