HOW TO PLEASE GOD
06th Jan 2016
I believe that as we enter a New Year we are being urged afresh to live by faith and not by sight! In fact Hebrews 11:6 tells us that, “without faith it is impossible to please God”.
We are surrounded by circumstances and challenges both personal, national and international. We could become fearful and plunge into despair, unless we follow God, trust Him, and live in faith in every area of life.
The words from Hebrews were written about Enoch, whose life of faith was simply to walk daily with God, which gave him such a quality of life that God took him to glory without dying! So let our first step of faith be to learn to spend time in God’s presence every day, in worship and in hearing from Him by Word and Spirit.
Our next step of faith is to know that God is greater than the situation we face. “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed.....without weakening in his faith, he faced the facts..... yet did not waver through unbelief.” (Romans 4:18) Some of us are facing humanly impossible situations. Let me encourage you to stand strong in faith for God is the God of the impossible.
We can also live every day with joy and blessing. “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4) Jesus has won a complete victory over sin and weakness, over disease and sickness, and every device of the evil one.
Joyce was preaching at our church on Sunday and spoke from Genesis 1:28 in The Message, where God speaks a blessing over His creation, “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!” She brought a strong word from God that was challenging us to not be passive as we look into the year ahead, but to be active in every area of life, “Take charge!”
Life would like to rule over us, but we need to please God by keeping our faith active, and we will see great things.
