PERFECT PEACE

Songs have always played a very important part in the lives of God’s people. Scripture is full of songs given by God, for special purposes. Both Joyce and I find that God places songs into our minds and hearts that are just what we need at a particular time, for a specific need, many of them “golden oldies”!
Isaiah 26 contains another of these songs, which has some incredible truths. I particularly love verse 3 in the Kings James Version, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” These words inspired one of Andrae Crouch’s best loved songs. God gives us songs because they contain truth and revelation that we need to handle life. This song has some great statements, here are a few. “We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts.” When we belong to God we are in a safe place. “The Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal” When all around is shaking and is uncertain, our lives are steady because they are founded on the Rock. “The path of the righteous is level… you make the way of the righteous smooth” When we don’t know where life is going and everything around us seems crazy, there is a level path ahead, prepared specifically by God.
Remember, God gives us songs to bring truth into our lives, to calm our fears and to strengthen our faith. These songs that lie deep within us are given by God to keep us looking to Him and to prevent us being overwhelmed by life.
I was awake in the night and was thinking and praying about a number of challenging situations and found myself singing this song:
Faithful forever Jesus my Friend
Guiding, keeping satisfying to the very end
Sunshine or shadow, He is the same
Faithful forever O praise His Name
Don’t let the enemy rob you of God’s resources when things are difficult, remember his gift of “Perfect Peace” is yours.
