PEACE - OUR DEFAULT MODE
11th Feb 2015
When as believers we have received Jesus into our lives and are living in connection with Him, I believe we have been designed to live in a constant state of peace. So I expect to wake up with peace in my heart, to live through the day in peace, and go to sleep in peace. That also means that I will be a peace with all men.
Jesus lived with peace in his heart and relationships and left this message to his disciples, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” (John 14:27) So there is a divine peace available to all believers!
It was also a hallmark of the ministry of Jesus that whenever he found his disciples distressed or fearful he spoke peace into them. After the resurrection when they were all locked into a room fearing what the Jews might do, Jesus appeared and said “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19-21)
Paul also believed in this quality of peace, when he spoke to the Philippians and told them, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace which transcends all understanding will guard you hearts......” (Philippians 4:6-7) This peace is supernatural and does not mean that every problem is solved, or every relationship sweet. When Hebrews 12:14 says, “Make very effort to live at peace with all men.....” it means we choose to live in a constant attitude of forgiveness.
A “Default Mode” is one of those terms that we use in today’s technology. Sometimes, when our computer does not behave as it should, we seek advice on how to repair it. The first thing that we will be told is, “Turn it off and then turn it back on again!” Sounds simple but usually does the trick.
Let’s return to “Default Mode”, turn off anxiety, fear, unforgiveness and stress and return to “Peace” which is how we were designed.
