OPEN HIS EYES

Elisha the prophet was being harassed and pursued by the king of Aram, who finally tracked him down to the city of Dothan, and sent horses and chariots to surround the city. When Elisha and his servant awoke the following morning the city was under siege. The servant cried out with alarm, “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?”
Elisha prayed, “O, Lord open his eyes so he may see.” (2 Kings 6:8-22) “Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” The enemy was struck blind, went to the wrong city, and Elisha had victory without a battle.
In the challenges of life we can feel surrounded by the enemy, the circumstances can become so large that we do not see a way out. It is then that someone needs to shout in our ears and speak to our hearts, “Lord, open their eyes.” It is at these moment when our faith is battered and bruised that we need to take on a new perspective.
God has not changed, He is still Almighty God, he is the healer, the deliverer, the provider, the comforter, the all sufficient one. If you are feeling overwhelmed by all that is going on around you, take time to pause, look away from the problem and dilemma and look at Jesus. In Mark 9, the father whose son was possessed by an evil spirit said, “But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us, “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”
Perhaps you feel that you are being constantly defeated by the enemy and feel powerless and helpless. 1 John 4:4 says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” Life can be very hard, your vision can be filled with what looks like impossibilities, however, “Nothing is impossible with God.”
Let your prayer, today, be, “Lord, open my eyes.”
