ON CHARGE?
16th Sep 2015
I feel very sad when I hear people saying they’re not coping. I understand the pressures and pace of modern life gravitate towards stress, and stress builds to a place where people simply can’t face living! However, we were not designed to “cope” on our own, we were designed to have a living connection with an Almighty God who by the power of His Holy Spirit will help us. Jesus promised not to leave us alone like orphans, but to be with us empowering us whatever circumstances we are facing. (John 14:18)
In modern life, most people use mobile phones, which constantly need to be kept charged. They are of no use once the charge has gone, and often people have docking devices which keep the phone topped up. I am meeting many people who have “no charge” “no resources”, they are empty of power, and wonder why they are not functioning!
In Hebrews 6:19 there is the picture of our connection to God being like an anchor that is connected to a source in heaven and keeps us stable as we are held by that anchor named “hope”. It is the certain “hope” that God is with us, for us, will never leave us, will help us in every time of need and in every situation.
You are responsible for watching the battery level on your phone, often expressed in percentages and as soon as it gets low, you put it on charge. So, what about something of much greater significance, your soul? It cannot function as designed unless you keep the connection.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Today, refresh and recharge in the presence of the One who loves you and has wisdom and help especially for you.
