MORE THAN

Several years ago, one of the established Insurance Companies in the UK changed its name to “More Than”. I imagine that it was seeking to tell its customers that it would do better than its competitors by not simply giving them just enough, but by doing “more than” the others.
I don’t know whether they have succeeded, but this phrase came into my mind as I was reading Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” What an amazing claim! Paul is telling us that when we come to God with our desires and our requests, He wants to do more for us than we can expect.
I believe that God wants to give us a year in 2014 of “more than all we ask or imagine.” He will begin by pouring out upon us ‘more love’ than we deserve. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
I believe that God wants to meet more of our needs, not only practical and financial, but in every way. When the Philippian believers had sought to help and bless Paul at a very difficult time, they were assured that God had seen their love and their giving, and he told them, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
I believe that God wants to give us more resources of strength and wisdom. When Paul was facing what he describes as a ‘thorn in my flesh’, God spoke to him and said, “My grace is sufficient for you.” I don’t believe the thorn was a sickness, but a time of trial. Later on he says, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)
So whatever you are facing in 2104, you belong to the God of “more than!”
