A MIGHTY DELIVERER
24th Feb 2021
At the moment I am reading through Exodus and Acts in my Bible - thrilling stuff, seeing God at work with individuals and nations. We constantly need to remind ourselves of how God has acted in the past, and because He doesn’t change, that He will do the same today.
In the Message Isaiah 59:1 says, “Look! Listen! God’s arm is not amputated—he can still save. God’s ears are not stopped up—he can still hear. There’s nothing wrong with God; the wrong is in you.” Isaiah goes on to say in verse 19, “In the west they’ll fear the name of God, in the east they’ll fear the glory of God, for he’ll arrive like a river in flood stage, whipped to a torrent by the wind of God.”
We taught our children this chorus when they were young,
“Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do. The mountains are His, the rivers are His, the skies are His handiwork too. Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do - for you!”
Young children have great faith and we are encouraged to become as little children - believing what we have been told, not complicating it or over thinking. So what are you expecting God to do right now? What has He promised in His word, for you personally? Do you know what He has prophesied about the times in which we live? The Bible is the book to live by, so are you reading it with the desire to know what He is saying about now?
I’m expecting the general darkness in the world to increase, but in contrast to see the glory of God revealed. I expect to see God in action in my personal circumstances, but also at a national and global level. I love to see God’s Spirit intervene and bring hope, answer prayer and give understanding.
Jesus said to His disciples in Matthew 16:3, “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” Jesus also said in Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
We need to see the hand of our mighty God, to understand afresh His supernatural ability to change circumstances. We have access to talk to Him, to intercede, to do what He asks of us, and watch Him act.
Hebrews 12:3 in the Message says, “When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”
