KEEP YOUR PLACE OF FAITH

One phrase Ian spoke last week really struck me, “When you have received prayer or had a word of knowledge about your condition, if nothing happens immediately don’t give up your place of faith.” Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”
This reminded me of the first time I received a “word of knowledge” about healing. I was in Sweden and at the end of my teaching had a real sense that God wanted to heal. I told the people that God was going to tell me what He wanted to do, that I would feel it in my body and would then speak it out, which was either a step of faith or a foolish action, as at that moment I felt nothing. I continued to pray in my heart, and after what to me seemed like a very long time, but was just a minute or so I felt a pain in my neck at the top of the spine.
I then spoke out what I was feeling and waited for a response. Again my faith was being tested! A lady responded and I went to her and prayed for God’s healing to be released in her body. I then received just a few more things from the Lord and prayed for each person as they responded. At the end of the meeting, I did not have the faith or courage to ask if anyone had been healed.
Some months later I was back home and we were holding a Leaders Week for Swedish pastors. It was Monday evening and I was welcoming the folk as they gathered. One lady came through the door and walked straight up to me. “You remember me, I was the one your prayed for with the neck problem at the conference in Sweden.” I did remember, and then heard how as I had prayed, nothing had happened immediately, but she then recounted how a week later her sister had come to visit and had asked about the conference. “What happened?” she asked. “I had a wonderful time and God healed my neck problem.” The moment she spoke, her neck was completely healed! She had not let her faith fail, and God had done a miracle.
Hebrews 6:12 says, “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”
