KEEP GOING
01st May 2024
We would all like to be able to pray a quick prayer and get an immediate answer. It does happen, and there are great testimonies of wonderful things happening in an instant! However, it is not so easy hanging in there for the long haul. We are in contact with many folk who are in the middle of the battle, and I have been meditating on various scriptures which promise that victory will come.
Paul in both of his letters to Timothy is constantly speaking about the challenges that come to all of us on a daily basis. I Timothy 6:11-12 he is encouraging Timothy to, “pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith.”
In the second letter he encourages Timothy to, “Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” Later there is the promise “If we endure, we will also reign with him.” (2 Timothy 2:3&12)
Recently, we were able to spend time with friends who we had not seen face to face for more than 10 years. There was a lot to catch up on, but as they spoke of how life had unfolded, we heard of the pain and struggles they had been through, but also the stories of victory and redemption, as they had held on to God, believed His promises, and seen Him come through with blessing and breakthrough.
Being in the middle of the battle is not easy. The writer to the Hebrews says, “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” (Hebrews 6:12)
In Galatians we read about the principle of sowing and reaping, in 6:9 it says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The burden on my heart today is to encourage any of you who are looking for a breakthrough, or may even be thinking of giving up. Keep going, don’t let go of the promises you have received, and don’t let fear rob you of your place of faith.
