IT'S TODAY
02nd Jul 2014
Many years ago my father in law was interviewed on a radio station in America. He sat in front of the microphone and faced a large notice saying “It’s today” - not This Morning, This Afternoon, Yesterday or Tomorrow! It’s always “today” so when the broadcast is aired it’s today. The broadcaster wanted to ensure that there was an immediacy with every interview.
I suggest that with God it’s always “today”. Today is the day He will give salvation, in whatever form it is needed. Today, He will be with us to help, comfort, correct, encourage and enable. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, today is the day of salvation.”
Hosea 14 tells the people of Israel to “Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously.....” His immediate response is, “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely ... I will be like dew to them.”
I meet many people who feel they have to do some serious cleaning up work before they can come back to God and restore relationship. Some feel it is too late, too many years have passed in isolation and independence.
For others, life is dominated by the past, and the future is full of fear and for-boding, or there may be a holding on to the hope that things will change sometime. However God’s gift to you is “today”.
Today God’s arms are open wide; there is a way back, on the bridge that has to be crossed the toll has already been paid. You can return, be restored and know peace, acceptance and forgiveness.
Let the word “today” become reality for you.
