THE POWER OF AN INDESTRUCTIBLE LIFE

In Hebrews, we read about how Jesus is the High Priest who has entered heaven by His own blood having obtained an eternal redemption. He is contrasted to the priests in the old covenant, but He does not come from that line, it says, He is, “One who has become a priest not on the basis of regulation as to ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life.”
What an amazing statement, and as our Redeemer, He has given to us believers that same “Indestructible Life.” That is the reason that natural death does not have any fear attached to it.
A number of people quite closely connected to us have died in the past few weeks, in addition to the death of Prince Philip. These have all had a personal faith and the testimony of their passing in peace and with a real sense of God’s presence has been a real mark of the triumph of their faith.
In Hebrews 2 it speaks of Jesus, “bringing many sons to glory” and further on, “the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family.” As Jesus ascended into glory, He paved the way for so many sons and daughters to follow him into His eternal dwelling.
In 1 Corinthians 15 the great chapter about the resurrection we read, “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.” Later in the chapter it states, “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is a wonderful passage, we are told, “not to grieve like the rest of men who have no hope” and it ends with, “Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
We have often been amazed and encouraged by those who having lost loved ones have been living with such supernatural peace. It says that Jesus bore our griefs and carried our sorrows to the cross, and He is able to surround us with supernatural comfort.
