THE IMPORTANCE OF TESTIMONY

Revelation 12:11 speaks about how we overcome the accusations of the devil. It says, “They overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”
There are two parts - God’s part and our part. Jesus by His victory on the Cross has defeated the devil, but we have to put that victory into practice, by receiving the promise and then by giving testimony to what God has done.
We are with family in Cornwall at the moment and memories of our days living here come readily to mind as we drive around the Duchy. We had began our journey of living by faith and trusting God to supply all our needs in Cornwall, and were recalling an incident that happened in those early days.
We had received a promise from Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things.” Now, how do we put this into practice?
Here is the incident - we were in Truro and I was taking one of our children for a music lesson. Joyce was in the Library with the rest of the family. The lesson had ended, and I was walking back with a couple of our children towards the Library, and they wanted me to buy them some sweets. I was acutely aware that I only had a few coins in my pocket, things were very tight financially.
I tried to put them off, but they were persistent. I thought if God has promised to supply all our needs, why am I so reluctant to spend the money. Also, there is the principle, “give and it will be given to you” - so I bought them sweets and arrived at the Library with empty pockets. As I walked in and joined the rest of the family, a young lady who was part of our youth group came down the stairs and greeted us and then very spontaneously gave me a five pound note!
I was amazed and very grateful to God who was proving to us that he was faithful and could meet our every need - fear left me, and as the months and years went by He abundantly proved His Word to be true.
What testimony do you have of God’s faithfulness to you? It defeats the enemy and strengthens your faith.
