HOW MUCH LIGHT IS SHINING FROM YOU?
12th Feb 2025
As I opened the curtains a few days ago, I remarked, “Another dull cloudy day! Oh, for some sunshine and an end to this gloomy weather!” Winter is almost over, and spring is just around the corner, but it has been a very dark time here in UK.
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world…. let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:33) Is your life causing people to praise God?
I well remember many years ago watching Corrie ten Boom on the television as she shared the horrors she had endured in the war. The overwhelming impression was the light that shone from her face. Her testimony was powerful, but her face glowed with the glory of God.
Exodus 34: 29 states, “When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.”
Joyce has told me of the early days when she first came to know Jesus, she kept looking in the mirror to see whether her face was shining like Moses!
2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
During the past week I have read the book, “The Heavenly Man” written by Brother Yun. It was written many years ago, but I had not yet read it. It is an amazing book telling of the trials and suffering he experienced in China. Then yesterday, we found a message he recently gave on YouTube. The greatest impression you get is the light and glory of Jesus that shines out of him.
I find this all very challenging - Jesus speaks of us being light, and Paul says that our lives should display God’s glory. So what do people see when they look at you and me?
