HOW HUNGRY ARE YOU?

Matthew 5:6 in the Message says, “You are blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.”
Years ago during a conference in Sweden I had a vision: I looked out over the gathered company and most of them looked like famine victims. During the ministry time I realised that God was showing me the reality of the situation. These people were starving for “the bread of life”. As one after another came for prayer, I asked them, “Are you having time alone with God, are you reading God’s Word, praying and fellowshipping with Him?” Here were so many starving believers, anorexic by choice or default, too busy to eat!
R T Kendall has written a blog(click on this link) sounding the alarm, as he finds so few regularly reading the Word of God as recorded in the Bible.
An African pastor told me a joke about two cocks who were used for fighting and gambling, one black, one white. The owner always knew which one would win. After watching the procedure and seeing that he accurately predicted the outcome, he was asked the simple question, “How do you know which one will win?” “The one I feed!” came the reply.
Apply this to your life - if you feed on the Bread of Life, you’ll be the winner. Jesus himself wants to walk and talk with you, share your life and put strength in you by His Spirit. His written word is declared to be food, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” You need to know what is written and thus be equipped to check “prophecy” - Does it agree with the written word?
We need revelation, and I personally come to the written word expecting to be informed, challenged, inspired and encouraged in my whole being. If you have no appetite, ask God to make His word alive and exciting. If your appetite is small - keep eating, it will grow. “Be a believer who meditates on the word day and night, and whatever you do will prosper.” (Psalm 1)
