HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF?
23rd Sep 2020
God sees you as perfect! In Luke 23:5 when Jesus was standing before the judgement seat of the Roman Governor, Pilate declared, “I find no fault in this man.” No basis for a charge against Him. This too was God’s verdict.
If this same Jesus lives in you, then the same is true today. There is no fault in Jesus, and as God the Father looks at you, He sees Jesus and His glory and presence shine out so radiantly, there is a covering over all your failure and inadequacy. Today God looks at you and me and says, “I find no fault in him!”
Recently I had a conversation with a young man who stated that one of his aims in life was to be a better person and develop his faith. Good aspirations, but impossible to achieve without a Saviour. We cannot improve ourselves by ourselves, we need the presence of Jesus, who accepts us as we are and makes us into what He wants us to become. Why is this a foundation of faith?
If you see yourself as a miserable sinner, always trying to improve and please God, you will always be expecting correction and evaluation of your performance. God wants your company, a relationship that is constantly developing and increasing in knowledge and intimacy. How will we come near if we expect to be judged?
Hebrews 12 tells us that we have not come to Mt Sinai, to a terrifying encounter with a Holy God, but we have come to Mount Zion where we can be accepted in Jesus and loved by the Godhead.
Read Hebrews 12:18 to the end of the chapter and choose to believe you are “God’s beloved.” Today hear the voice from heaven say, “You are my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.”
