HOW DOES HE DO IT?

In John chapter 5, Jesus gives us clear pointers showing us the basis of His miraculous ministry. In verse 20 He states, “I can’t independently do a thing, only what I see the Father doing.” In verse 30 “I can’t do a solitary thing on my own ... I’m not out to get my own way, but only to carry out orders.”
The intimacy and communication between Jesus and His Father is so finely tuned, allowing God to flow into all sorts of need.
We find other people in scripture who have demonstrated this dependency. In 1 Samuel 16 Samuel is instructed to anoint one of Jesse’s sons as future king to replace Saul. He isn’t told which one! As the sons line up before him he observes them through human eyes, looking only at their physical attributes. God, however is seeing their hearts and no-one passes muster. Samuel does not make the mistake of ignoring God.
Eventually, the runt David is reluctantly brought before Samuel, and God announces, “This is the one!” As Samuel anoints him with oil, the Holy Spirit pours over him with power, leading David into a life of intimacy and action, God vitally empowering him for the rest of his life.
It’s all about what God will do if we co-operate with Him. Our senses need to be alert, our eyes open and our ears finely tuned. As we speak out of His heart and mind as we perceive it, He then confirms His word with signs and wonders.
It sounds so easy, Jesus declares in John 5, “I am not out to get my own way.” So let us keep asking Father to show us what He is doing so we can see His kingdom advance. Remember, “Neither Jesus nor the Father shuts anyone out!”
Jesus has set the standard, many have followed that example down through the centuries, now it is our turn to do what the Father is doing - today!
