A GOOD ROUTINE
17th Mar 2021
We are all facing challenges during this pandemic and the lockdowns we are enduring; it is not easy. So I have “routines” that I have built into my life to keep me at peace, with joy and knowing that I live in vital connection with God.
I start the day with, “A song in the morning.” As I awake I seek to tune into heaven and receive a song with which to start the day. Today I found myself singing, “We declare Your majesty, we proclaim that Your Name is exalted, for You reign magnificently, rule victoriously and You power is shown throughout the earth……” That stops my mind being occupied with all the problems of the day ahead. Psalm 138:2 says, “For you have exalted above all things your name and your word.”
Joyce and I spend time in the word and prayer each day. We begin by reading “Faith Food” which is the devotional we wrote some years ago, and we often are surprised by what we have written. We then might pray and worship together or get into the scriptures. We use “The Bible in One Year” the Bible Plan I wrote many years ago. We also spend time listening to the Lord and writing down what He is saying. We then probably have another cup of coffee!
Psalm 119:165 says “Great peace have they who love your law, nothing can make them stumble.” Jude verse 20 says, “Build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit, Keep yourselves in the God’s love….” The order may vary but our routine includes, Word, worship, prayer, praying in tongues, thanksgiving and listening to God.
We can all feel weary of this lockdown and self pity can rise, which is the time to think of others and make a phone call or FaceTime to encourage them. Proverbs 11:25 says, “He who refreshes others with himself be refreshed.”
It is away good to have a personal testimony book on the go. I have just finished reading “A Legacy of Faith” by Ruth Graham, things I learned from my father Billy Graham. A very real and encouraging book.
Part of our routine involves watching online; in addition to our own church Living Waters, we tune into Ian Andrews, Healing Webinar on Thursday’s. Our friend Jonny Conrathe is giving a short message daily on FB. And we have been blessed to listen to Maldwyn Holland our friend from Treorchy….. and there are others!
In establishing a “Good Routine” we need to build in elements that will encourage our faith, that will keep our relationship with God alive and vibrant, and will think of ways to reach out to others. This I believe will keep us with peace, joy and blessing.
