GOD'S FRIENDSHIP
10th Feb 2016
My daily reading was in Job 28, which describes how God sees everything, not just the surface of the earth, but all that lies deeper, the mines, minerals and gems. Was Job wondering why God wasn’t seeing what was going on in his heart?
Job had experienced intimacy with God, who had walked with him, guided him, imparted wisdom and now it seemed had vanished. Although the physical and emotional suffering Job experienced was real and horrible enough, the loss of God’s presence and friendship was an agony beyond all others.
In a similar way Jesus who suffered physically, emotionally and under demonic attack, seems to suffer more by the loss of His Father’s presence, as He cries out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
In the light of this, I found myself asking how much I value intimacy with God and the constant availability of the presence of Jesus in the person of the Holy Spirit? Don’t take Him for granted today, thank Him for His presence, for His wisdom, for His understanding, favour and the supernatural resources He is constantly imparting.
Job describes this presence like a light that is always held before him, “....and I walked through the dark by its light. Oh, how I miss those golden years when God’s friendship graced my home.” (Job 29:3-4 in The Message)
Today, pray that you may know more of this practical wisdom and intimacy. Remember He sees beneath the surface of every situation and will give His wisdom, insight and knowledge, if you ask for it.
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
