FULL REDEMPTION
08th Jun 2022
Some years ago I was involved in a very serious moral situation. News came to me that a man who was a mature believer had run off with a teenage girl. There was a lot of anger and disappointment from the group of folk and the church to which they all belonged. I was asked to go and speak into this crisis. Not an easy situation!
As I prayed about what to say and how to deal with these shocked and hurting people, the Lord directed me to Psalm 130. It was verse 7 that was impressed upon me. “For with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.” This took me by surprise as there were many who were hurting and wanting to vent their reactions and frustration.
As I read through this psalm, I found myself receiving a completely different message than I had expected. Verses 3 & 4 say, “If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.”
Many of us were wanting to give this man a severe rebuke and show him how he had failed God and his fellow believers, and yet God was saying, “I forgive him!”
The guilty couple were found, and as the teenage girl came to us for prayer we were seeking to restore the situation. The details are not important. God ministered his forgiveness and she received God’s healing and restoration.
Verse 5 of the psalm says, “I wait for the Lord, my souls waits, and in his word I put my hope.” God’s promise of forgiveness, his unfailing love and his full redemption were ministered into the situation, and God proved his faithfulness as we saw the healing power of God rescue this crisis.
This happened many years ago and God has been true to His word. His power to restore and give a brand new start has been throughly vindicated.
Is the enemy trying to hold you captive to a failure in your past? God’s word for you is, “With him is full redemption.”
