FEELING FLAT?
31st Oct 2018
I’m sure you know what I mean by “feeling flat”; when life carries on, but joy, enthusiasm, vision, excitement seems lacking. In times like these you need to remember, to call to mind, all that God has done for you, all He is doing right now, and all He has promised.
The Message Psalm 105:1 says, “Tell everyone you meet what he has done!” Remind yourself of all he has done for you personally. The psalm continues, “Sing him songs, belt out hymns, translate his wonders into music!”
You can use what someone else has created as a vehicle of praise. Be happy by reminding yourself of the many times God has helped you, given you wisdom and favour, acted on your behalf, taken away fear, provided for you in a thousand different ways.
Be alert for signs of His presence today, look at people through His eyes, and offer yourself to be an encourager, a listener, God’s agent in your workplace or the peculiar set of circumstances unique to you. Remember you are not alone, your life is in intimate touch with the Spirit of Jesus - He empowers you, comforts you, helps you, instructs you and guides you.
When the “news” gets you down, remember that God is in charge of the nations; ultimately He will fulfil every promise He has made, and every knee will bow and acknowledge His Lordship. Remember you are under His protection, you are His child, the apple of His eye, His delight, and He wants you to sense the privilege of being able to live without fear and anxiety.
By the time you have consciously “remembered”, I guarantee you’ll be feeling more buoyant, able to face this week and what lies ahead with the confidence that with God’s help you can - Leap over a wall - put 10,000 to flight - defeat Goliath - and live a happy life!
Read Psalm 105 and be encouraged.
